Product description: The Zomei 77mm IR 720 filter is used for infrared photography with digital cameras and speed infrared film. This nearly opaque filter blocks all visible light up to 720nm, enabling the capture of subject matter and scenes that are not visible under normal conditions. Due to the nature of infrared photography, the filter factor for this filter is highly variable and depends largely on the ISO sensitivity in use and lighting conditions. Additionally, it is recommended that auto-exposure and auto-focus functions are disabled during use for greater control over the results. Categories of infrared filters: 680nm for indoor and weak shadows use. 720nm for indoor and weak light. 760nm for cloudy outdoor at nightfall and indoor brightness. 850nm for indoor and weak cloudy outdoor light. 950nm for outdoor and strong light, such as in summer time. White Balance: White balance is an important part of getting a decent IR image. You can use a pre-set value, or you can use Pre-White Balance to capture the White Balance in the current conditions. Either way, you will need to alter it in post-production to get any desirable results. Using preset White Balance values is fine. Incandescent is the coolest preset available. Focusing & Stabilization: Focusing is a difficult part of IR photography and can be a bit hit and miss in some respects unless your lens has IR focusing marks (Usually a small red mark, or on older lenses, a longer red line). It is best to use a narrow aperture, such as f/20, to ensure a large depth of field and minimise focusing issues.
