Does this product work to keep armadillos away?

Armadillos have horrifically bad eyesight, the use their ears mostly to locate stuff.  AMAZING FACT:  1/2 of all Armadillos in the amazon carry leprosy.  ANOTHER AMAZING FACT: Armadillos can hold their breath for 6 minutes: they do so to cross creeks and small rivers- they simply hold their breath and walk along the bottom.

Question 2

How is the unit activated?  If you have outdoor cats, will they trigger the unit?  What about the livestock, won't they trigger the unit too?

Accepted Answer

This unit is light - or darkness activated.  It has a light sensor.  It comes on at dusk, and off at dawn.  It is a random pattern flashing light that seems to not disturb flocks, or domestic cats. Several of the flashing patterns simulate animal eyes.  Night predators are the ones who are most disturbed, they keep their distance.

When using under house for skunks how long will the battery last as it must be on in the dark constantly

Accepted Answer

Mine was on at night only, but the battery lasted about a year. We live in the north, so that included a pretty cold winter, which drains the battery. Depending upon the strength / quality of your battery, I'd expect it to last at least six months. I would think that you might only need it in the spring/summer, since that's when skunks have their babies (but I'm guessing). And, by the way, thank you for not killing or trapping the skunks, which is what a lot of people would do. Making it inhospitable for them is the best way to keep them from living under your house.

Question 4

I can’t get it to screw back in after replacing battery. How do you get it to tighten

Accepted Answer

It can be difficult to screw the top back on because the threads are so tight.  Make sure it is clean and free from debris.  Carefully line up the top with the body of the light and make sure you're screwing it back on level and not at an angle.  I found it difficult also to put the top back on but try to do it carefully.  Also make sure the rubber gasket is seated correctly so that it doesn't interfere with the top as you put it back together.
